A marriage is a thousand little things. Isn’t it? It’s a friendship. It’s a bond, a connection. Everyone wishes to find their true soul mate and the better half or best half, so to say. Luckily Riya Verma and Anuj Verma found their soul mates in each other and decided on forever. Let’s dive straight into their love chronicle and how they took the wedding vows in the words of the bride herself. Let’s scroll!
1. Tell us your love story. How did you guys meet? What sparked the idea of marriage?

My wedding was an arranged one; so me and Anuj we met at a restaurant because of our families and we spoke to each other for the first time there itself.
I was looking for someone who makes me wanna become a better person each day and he was looking for someone who can handle all of his childish tantrums for life.

Somehow our paths were meant to be connected for the rest of our lives and we said each other a yes for marriage.
2. Describe how you planned your wedding. How did you finalize the venue? What were the preparations that you did to make your wedding memorable? Who were your vendors, e.g., venues, decorators, MUA, Invites, Choreographers, Catering, Photographers, etc.?

After our roka ceremony we had about 8 months to do the planning for the wedding. I always dreamt of having my wedding at my parent’s anniversary which by god’s blessings came true. The wedding venue had to be grand as my father wanted to he chose the wedding villa in noida, and for our engagement it was bliss and blessings in Delhi. Both of our venues provided us with their in-house decorators which made our work a lil easier. For all of our other vendors such as MUA, invites, photographers and outfit designers we both wanted to go local and plan those in a budget(which is NOT easy). For MUA after a lot of research and profile visiting I opted Nancy Chawla (for my engagement and my wedding). Invites were sourced from chandini chowk. For my sangeet choreographer I had a strict budget so I chose AB wedding choreo (Aashi Bajpai) and I am so glad I found her. Photographers were suggested by one of our family friends so it was a bit easier and they did a beautiful job.

Wedding planning is never gonna be easy no matter What is your budget or how many people come and help you. I bought a planner diary and tried to keep everything in that journal.
3. Tell us about you & your partner’s outfits in each event. What Jewelry did you wear?
As mentioned earlier for our outfits we wanted to go local instead of big fancy designers. So we went to the bridal shopping hub- Chandini chowk!

And inside those streets I discovered giri Lal Prem Chand. I didn’t wanted to were a traditional red lehenga, I wanted it to be colorful and vibrant just like my personality. So I asked them to customise an outfit especially for me and they did a fine job! It had all the colors I could ask for. For Anuj’s sherwani he went all by himself and went for something subtle and sober.

The jewellery was from Om son’s bridal store in Lajpat Nagar as I opted for a royal bridal look.
4. What was the most memorable part of your wedding?

There were actually 2 memorable parts of my wedding. Since it was an arranged marriage my husband never officially proposed me. So he decided to do that on our wedding day in front of all the guests and our families.(still makes my heart flutter)

And secondly was sharing my wedding date with my mom and dad as it was their 28th wedding anniversary that day. Can this get more special than this?
5. Advice for the future brides?

My advice for the future brides would be to keep a diary, and enjoy it as much as you can. Take your partner along with your planning and be vocal about what you imagined your wedding day to be like.

The time runs so freaking fast at the wedding day so make sure you enjoy every moment of it. Smile and cherish each day as they become memories.
