Savina and Daljinder coincidently met at a wedding in December 2012. A while later, they got in touch and it all clicked and they began their long-distance relationship. DJ wanted to surprise Savina with the most perfect proposal ever. It began with him flying down from London without Savina even knowing about it. To keep Savina away from any speculation, he stayed in touch with her over WiFi in the aircraft. With the entire family involved, DJ popped the question with a classic platinum ring with an oval solitaire at Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club. The couple later got married at the same location.
For the Kalire ceremony, Savina wore gold customized Kalire that had a special picture added to it and very subtle, yet classy chooras for her Punjabi wedding.
For the Jaago night Savina wore a fresh light blue gown with colorful embroidery at the top and ostrich feathers on the sleeves from Aza in Delhi. She completed her look with earrings that had a maharani on them. Her look was a complete balance of modern and traditional. While Savina looked like a princess, DJ looked no less than her prince charming as he wore a silver sequin kurta with jeans and boots. He added a traditional touch to his look as he had a turban tied on him.
The wedding was held at the Swaneset Bay Resort and Country Club. They went with a subtle theme of blush and ivory tones. The decorations for this occasion were managed by the Charming Affairs. Savina’s wedding outfit was designed by Ali Xeeshan. She chose a subtle color palette with pastel pink, sea green, orange, and gold. Her dupatta was heavily embellished with birds, bright pink flowers and lime green leaves that exceedingly complimented her outfit. She wore a real gold set on the wedding day along with gold bracelets and a nose piece that she purchased from the House of Virsa in Surrey, BC. Her passa was bought from Adore by Kanika.
For the wedding, DJ went with an impressive traditional Punjabi attire, as he wore a sea green and gold outfit. What added a personal touch to his look was his kalgi that was hand made by his sister.
For the reception, the decorations were done by Mohani Event Design taking care of every detail and every corner of the location. They went lots of floral and candle arrangements on this day.
They gave it a personal touch by having really nice calligraphy done on the big mirror as the guests entered. The guests were treated with a variety of food like a mixture of meats and seafood, a chocolate fountain, an exciting gol gappa stand, and many others.
Tips for Future Brides: “If you find something you love in outfits, jewelry, etc then just buy it. Chances of getting the same things later are very rare. Enjoy the wedding week and don’t let little hiccups get in the way of your mood. Everything may not go as planned but that doesn’t mean that you get upset and not enjoy. Try on several different wedding lehengas before you pick the one for your big day. You never know what type will suit you the best until you try it on.”
