Once upon a time, a beautiful girl named Shaivi met a handsome boy named Oscar. She was studying at Boston University and used to visit her family during weekends and worked at Sukhadia’s which is her family business while Oscar was a student and exploring his inner passion for food and culinary at the Sukhadia’s. Oscar quickly learned the Indian culture, Gujarati language, and became a part of the Sukhadia family.
They discovered a mutual love for adventures, the culinary arts, and action-thriller Netflix films, because of which they were attracted to each other. They found a soulmate in each other.
They wanted their wedding to be a perfect fusion of both their religions and vibrant cultures: Indian & Mexican. They focused on the things most important to them which were their religious wedding ceremonies.
They always wanted to get married in the church if they had a catholic ceremony. So they picked their hometown church where Oscar is a member making it even more memorable. For the Hindu wedding, they wanted a timeless, elegant, and classic luxurious venue near a park. The Pierre Taj Hotel in Central Park, NYC was chosen for that.
They are planners and already in the wedding industry. So they knew that their festivities had to be different and unique. So they didn’t just choose vendors, but they chose partners to make sure their wedding ideas and creative thoughts would get executed perfectly.
Oscar and Shaivi being a non-traditional, “fusion” couple found the best ways to have their guests experience both the cultures and relationship. They chose Ovando Florist in NYC, to do a festive Fiesta night for Sangeet and also for wedding and reception decor.
For the Sangeet Party, they chose Medley entertainment for a live Indian Band and Banda Surena for a live Mexican Banda.
Oscar who is a trained chef, designed and made recipes for the entire Authentic Mexican menu. Each event was made custom & personable.
For the wedding reception, they wanted American style so a live American band was hired who killed it and the dance floor went wild. It was made possible with the help of Marcus Reid from Hank Lane Productions.
At the reception, they had a live painter illustrate the evening because Shaivi loves painting and grew up doing oil painting.
Susmita Patel (StylebySusmita) helped her to build the wedding wardrobe, colors and worked with the designers. Oscar was groomed by Suraj Patel, hair artist, and grooming expert. Everything was coordinated well by Urvashi Mishra, who is an experienced planner.
For the pre-wedding ceremonies, they chose chandan and deep red traditional Indian colors. Shaivi wore a lehenga from Kalista Delhi and Oscar wore all-white kurta pajama with a light yellow vest from Kona.
For the Haldi ceremony, they all chose white. Shaivi wore an elegant yet flattering peplum white top with a white skirt & yellow marigold jewelry which was designed and made by Susmita Patel.
For the Mehendi, they went with pastels. Shaivi chose a light pink and light green pastel look while Oscar chose straight white pants with light teal and baby pink color combination kurta and a straight white vest on top. Shaivi chose a beautiful Banarsi silk lehenga from Anita Dongre.
For the Catholic Wedding, they went classic.Bride’s white gown was from Pronovias while the groom’s black tuxedo was from Hugo Boss.
For the Sangeet- Mexican Fusion she went with Shyamal Bhumika. Shaivi picked out a deep blue jacket lehenga with floral print- giving a perfect Frida Kahlo look. Oscar wore a v-cut kurta velvet with flower embroidery which was in dark blue and red.
For the Hindu wedding, the bride chose to wear a classic Sabyasachi pink lehenga and Oscar wore a rich ivory sherwani.
The theme for the Reception was champagne glitter. Shaivi chose to wear a nude color gown from Tarun Tahiliani while Oscar wore a Ted Baker midnight blue tuxedo.
