Reema and Vaarij first met in 2009 at a New Year’s Eve party in New York City where Vaarij was DJing. They were introduced to each other by their mutual friends. They later reconnected through Facebook and had their first date at a Cuban restaurant in Hoboken. Over the next year, their friendship turned into something more and they began dating. Vaarij proposed Reema at sunset in Santorini and she said yes.
The wedding festivities started with Mehendi function which was an intimate event with only family and closest friends. Reema is a huge fan of prints so she went with a yellow Anita Dongre printed silk lehenga for the function. Whereas Vaarij choose a custom green kurta from Millionaire in Mumbai. Heena for the bide was done by Monita Bijoriya from Henna For All.
The Sangeet was held at The Westin Princeton. The evening began with a few Bollywood dance performances, followed by Garba and Raas. Ritesh Rathod from Medley Entertainment rocked the house and had all of our guests dancing all night long. Reema went for a royal blue silk lehenga from Anita Dongre. While Vaarij’s outfit was a custom silk purple kurta and bandi from Raghavendra Rathore.
The wedding ceremony began with Vaarij’s baraat procession around the hotel, leading into the main ballroom. The traditional Gujarati wedding ceremony was officiated by priest Himanshu Jani.
Reema wore a red saree from Sabyasachi and collaborated with Sabyasachi for a customized veil. Reema’s Earrings and necklace was from Anita Dongre and wore her mother’s bangles. Style by Susmita gave her a minimal makeup look with a crimson red lip. Shoes were from Christian Louboutin.
Vaarij’s outfit was a custom golden sherwani from Raghavendra Rathore. Saafa and shoes were also by Raghavendra Rathore. Kalgi sourced in Mumbai by Bridelan.
