ENTERTAINING GAMES DURING MEHNDI AND HALDI

ENTERTAINING GAMES DURING MEHNDI AND HALDI

No wonder that wedding functions like Haldi and Mehndi can be fatigue at times when you have too many things to look after during the wedding, you know, in case you are the bridesmaid or groomsmen. But, take a breath! As you deserve to enjoy the wedding, and so do your guests. Following are a few fun games to amuse every attendant of the function.

ANTAKSHARI:

If singing is your hidden talent, this game will help you reveal it. So, before you get to the venue, prepare a list of your favorite songs. The game begins by making two teams. Someone from one side has to start reading the alphabet silently, and then at any random point, a member from the opposite team has to tell him to stop. Whatever letter he was at, someone from the opponent team has got to sing a song starting from that letter. For example, if the letter was ‘S’, the song can be ‘Sun meray Humsafar.’ The letter at which this song ends will be the letter at the start of the song that anyone from the opposite team has to sing. If they get late than 30 seconds to think of a song starting from that letter, the opponent team scores a point.

DUMB CHARADES:

In case you are oblivious to this popular game, read how to play it. This game also involves two teams. Perhaps the family members of the bride can make up a team, and those of the groom can be the opponents. One group has to unanimously decide upon a movie, choose an opponent to act upon it without speaking so the team members of the opponent can guess it. If the silent actor is unable to make his team members guess the movie, they don’t score any point! You’ll be fortunate if you are good at acting or guessing!

THE MEHNDI COMPETITION:

This is the perfect way to engage your guests while you’re busy managing the event. Count your guests and accordingly print out a hand on pieces of paper, for every individual. Get the same number of Mehndi cones and tell them to test their henna skills on that paper hand. You can set a time limit as you wish. Once the time ends, compare the designs of all your guests and decide for a winner, just for fun. If you want to, you can even give a small gift to the winner.

THE FLOWER NAME GAME:

This is somewhat like the Mehndi competition. In a plate or a basket, give small flowers to your guests, along with some empty space. Tell them to write the names of the bride and the groom with those flowers, very neatly. The first one to write the names will be the winner. You can give a gift if you wish! If these beautiful memories can be set by minor investments like flowers and henna cones, why not go for it!

CHIT SONGS:

This game, like Antakshari, is also about singing. On a few chits of paper, write some random words related to the wedding. For example, the bride, groom, relatives, friends, food, flowers, doli, etc. Fold these chits nicely, shuffle them, and put them in a basket. Unlike Antakshari, this game doesn’t involve teams, it can be played individually too. The players have to randomly pick one chit each, and sing a song related to what word the chit says. For example, if it’s ‘doli,’ the song can be ‘doli saja ke rakhna,’ and so on. Every individual gets points for singing a song according to the chit.

Weddings are not always about formalities and fulfillment of rituals. It’s good to enjoy a little carelessly.
